Hailing from New York City, American singer-songwriter Halsey gained attention for her 2014 self-penned song “Ghost,” which she had posted on Soundcloud, leading to a recording contract with Astralwerks. Releasing her debut EP, Room 93, with the label in August of that year, Halsey soon became the name on everyone's lips. Her 2015 performance at South By Southwest Festival was the most talked about performance of the festival on Twitter, and later that summer the singer landed a support slot with Imagine Dragons on the north American leg of their Smoke + Mirrors Tour. Badlands, Halsey's debut studio album, was released in October 2015, and was supported by appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Last Call with Carson Daly. She was featured on the Chainsmokers 2016 single “Closer,” reaching the top spot on the US Billboard Hot 100. Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, Halsey's second studio album, will be released in June 2017.
